Merchant Park is a 65 acre development at Aycliffe Business Park on J59 of the A1(M). Home to one of the largest inward investment manufacturing developments in recent years – the Hitachi Rail Europe’s 30 acre train manufacturing facility, which opened in September 2015. A £90m project delivered by Merchant Anglo, Rokeby has been appointed as development managers to progress the second phase of this business park.
Merchant Park has net development plots remaining extending to 25 acres (10.12 ha), an allocation which will accommodate new buildings up to 312,000 sqft.
The current strategy is to focus on indigenous manufacturing requirements both expanding local business and companies incoming to the region.
In the immediate future, the company is proposing to develop a 50,000 sqft unit on Plot 1 and 50,000 sqft of individual new start up units in multiples of 3,000 sqft to 5,000 sqft. The latter will be known as Station Place, with completion anticipated by the end of 2020.
